Hosts of the month: 5 names

STORIESFeb 2, 2026

They're not influencers. They're not full-time event producers. They have day jobs and group chats and reasonable bedtimes. Here are five hosts who showed up consistently this month and made their neighborhoods notably better.

KAVYA — JUHU

Beach cleanups, every other Saturday. Started after one too many barefoot walks on broken glass. 6 events, 380 attendees, ~800kg of plastic. Has strong opinions on the right kind of glove (compostable, not nitrile).

JAMES — BENTONVILLE

Trail run + coffee, weekly. Tuesday evenings, 6pm sharp, Crystal Bridges. 32 weeks running. People show up in work clothes and change in cars. James does not care. Just bring shoes.

ANIKA — PALI HILL

Open mic for songwriters, monthly. Strict 5-song limit. No covers unless they're excellent. Built a regular circuit of 60 musicians who actually critique each other. Hard to get into. Worth the wait.

DEREK — ROGERS

Repair café, biweekly. Brings 30 years of mechanical engineering and a contagious patience. Has fixed lamps, blenders, bikes, one record player, and zero broken hearts (he tried).

NIKHIL — POWAI

Skill swap, Sunday afternoons. He teaches woodwork. Other people teach knitting, Excel, Hindi grammar, sourdough. Two-hour sessions. Show up, learn one thing, teach one thing. Don't leave with the same hands.
